Separations are one of the hardest parts of military life. For dual serving military couples, there is the added perspective of knowing exactly what happens when a service member is deployed. Nicole and Matthew Janis share the story of what it was like to be married and deployed, along with the added concerns Nicole had to face.

Today, as their family has grown to include two beautiful daughters, Nicole is no longer in the military. The couple, who is stationed in Texas, is continuing to navigate the demands of an active duty military career as Matthew continues to deploy with his unit. Nicole explains the differences between experiencing his deployments as a service member herself, and now as a military wife.

Get to know more about the Janis family in the current issue of Military Families Magazine!
