An Air Force reservist and an Air National Guardsman are among the U.S. athletes who will head to the Netherlands in April to compete in the Invictus Games.
The Army announced the 65 service members and veterans who will go head-to-head against fellow adaptive athletes from 20 countries in Prince Harry’s Warrior Games-inspired event.
Staff Sgt. Kevin Greene (Air Force Reserve) competed in wheelchair basketball at the 2019 Warrior Games after a motorcycle crash in 2014 resulted in amputating his left foot and lower left leg. He won six gold medals throughout the 10-day competition.

Staff Sgt. Matthew Cable, who joined the Montana Air National Guard in 2011, has acute myeloid leukemia, and was introduced to the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program as a result, ESPN reported in 2017.
The Invictus Games features 10 adaptive sports – archery, field, indoor rowing, powerlifting, swimming, track, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and a driving challenge. Its first event was held in London in September 2014.
Other host sites include Orlando, Florida, (2016); Toronto, Ontario, (2017); and Sydney, Australia (2018).
Athletes will converge at The Hauge from April 16-22, 2022.
