3 Reasons to Attend This Year’s Military Influencer Conference

When I attended last year’s inaugural Military Influencer Conference, I was unsure of what to expect. For years, many of us in the military community had been pining over the loss of Military.com’s previous event focused on the blogosphere. Attending that annual venue connected us with so many of our colleagues, so to speak, and we were hoping someday someone would revive it. Well, someone did, and his name is Curtez Riggs. And for those who missed out in 2017, you’re getting a second chance at this unique experience this September.

Here are some of the real reasons not to miss out on the 2018 Military Influencers Conference:

So many connections

Conferences like this are your best opportunity to unite with people who are in a similar space as you. Many of which do what you do and have similar goals. And, guess what? We were a bunch of writers in the same room supporting each other. One of my favorite parts of the weekend was getting to meet people that I’ve talked to and seen online, read their blogs and articles, or just heard about. The value of those connections extend way beyond conference days. That factor itself is worth the entire price of the ticket right there.

Be prepared for motivation

There’s no doubt that MIC aims to motivate. At last year’s event, Army-veteran-turned-CEO Fred Wellman of ScoutComms joined Duffel Blog creator Paul Szoldra and entrepreneur Lakesha Cole, owner of She Swank Marketplace, to share tips on getting your brand in the media. The panel engaged in real conversation rather than simply talking at us about their experiences and successes.

And oh-so-many inspiring stories were told, like that of Combat Flip Flops Founder Matt Griffin, who said being successful doesn’t mean you climb over everyone else to get there.

Networking across industries

Your collection of business cards and opportunities will grow when you attend MIC. The networking potential is a huge selling point for a conference like this. People show up to meet you. That was such an inspiring thing, and not something you can manufacture. In that room you will find small business owners and experts on all things growing a brand. There will be social media influencers, published writers and bloggers, media representatives, companies seeking out brand ambassadors, and more. If there is something you need to take your goal to the next level, you will find it at MIC.

This year’s conference is already looking like an amazing event. Jim Koch, founder and brewer from Sam Adams, is the keynote speaker, sharing 32 years of business and brewing experience. Plus, some of the members of AmeriForce Media’s editorial team will join a panel about freelance writing and how to successfully work and do what you love. And, let’s not forget those valuable hallway conversations that tend to lead to the best networking opportunities.
