You could be closer to a bachelor’s degree than you know.

Central Michigan University

Everyone wants to save time and money, especially when earning a college degree. While military tuition assistance is generous, you should consider an accredited university that understands the time involved as well as the money spent.

A nontraditional student who chooses to work or join the military before beginning their degree often has a large amount of work-related knowledge. Acquired training should be respected and rewarded by the university they choose to attend.

At Central Michigan University, there are several paths that nontraditional students can use to earn college-level credit for things they have already learned.

Joint Services Transcript evaluation – Several of CMU’s online bachelor’s degrees offer credit for some of the courses you took in basic training. You may have even more credits depending on your advanced training. Ask for a copy of your JST, and after you apply to CMU, we’ll evaluate your courses and tell you how many credits you have completed.

Other military transfer credit – CMU accepts a wide variety of military transfer credits based on the American Council on Education recommendations and the requirements of the program you choose.

Prior Learning Credit – Earn college credit for your work, training and community activities. You document your experiences in a portfolio following the instructions in the Prior Learning Student Handbook. CMU faculty assess your portfolio and award credits depending on your program. You take fewer courses and save thousands of dollars with the low prior learning tuition rate.

At CMU, we surround all of our students, whether on main campus, online or at our satellite locations, with a strong sense of community and caring. For more than 45 years, our military students have been transferred, deployed, started families and earned their degrees with the support they found at Central Michigan University.
