How Central Michigan University makes the military a priority

Central Michigan University has been committed to the military since 1972. With more than 40 years of experience supporting military students, we can help you achieve your goals. Our friendly staff is ready to help you earn your degree while maintaining your service responsibilities or lifestyle. You can do it with CMU.

CMU accepts more than 800 military training and education courses for transfer credit. Like many of our military students, you may have credit you can transfer, including some from basic training and additional training for your job. You also may be eligible to earn credit for work and life experiences.  

Other benefits for CMU military students include:

  • G.I. Bill approved.
  • Yellow Ribbon participant.
  • Discounted tuition rates up to 40%.
  • Application fee waiver.
  • Military scholarships available.
  • Consolidated credits toward your degree, both military and civilian.
  • Credits can be transferred in from more than one institution.

If you deploy, we deploy. We offer classes in online, face-to-face and hybrid formats, condensed into eight-week terms. CMU has more than 30 locations across North America, including 15 military installations.

CMU also has more than 30 academic programs available with a variety of concentrations and minors to customize your education to meet your individual career goals. You can earn a:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Specialist degree.
  • Doctorate.
  • Undergraduate certificate.
  • Graduate certificate.

From start to finish and even after graduation, you will be supported by faculty, staff and fellow students. We’re here to help you reach the next step in your journey, whether that’s a promotion in the military or transitioning to civilian life.
