Melissa M. Stewart is the content editor of AmeriForce Media, publisher of Military Families, Reserve & National Guard, and Military Influencer magazines. 

She has directed content—from feature magazine articles and SEO-optimized blogs to web copy and targeted marketing brochures—for 20 years. Melissa has a strong journalism background, including serving as editor-in-chief for a variety of lifestyle print publications and their digital components.

In order to tell an engaging story, she has flown in the cockpit of a vintage warplane with a pilot named Boom, rode an ATV through a banana plantation, and tried indoor skydiving. She started her career as a New Jersey newspaper reporter the week of the 9-11 attacks.

Currently, she loves learning something new nearly every day and sharing all the highlights of military life and important advice with an audience of active families.

Melissa holds dual bachelor’s degrees in English and magazine journalism from Syracuse University. When she’s not on deadline, she enjoys cooking, travel, fitness, and volunteering. She resides in Virginia Beach a few miles from Naval Air Station Oceana with her husband and two daughters.
